Dennis began his hobby of turning wood in 1998, learning to turn wooden pens with a light weight Delta lathe. After a few years he purchased a Nova lathe so he could work on larger hollow forms. For many years that lathe served him well and now he works with a Robust Sweet 16 lathe, built in Barneville Wisconsin.

He has been a member of the Badger Woodturners since 2000 and has taught many members some of the skills he has gained over the years. Today Dennis regularly volunteers as a mentor to students at West High School teaching them how to turn wood safely.
